Every year since 1995, our 4th. Fireworks Gala has been considered one of the best 4th. Of July Fireworks Shows on the Central Coast. This is our largest fund raiser. All proceeds are donated back to worthy causes.
The SYV Rotary Club wanted to raise a little money for Charitable Grants in our Community. The Danish Days Committee invited us to have a food booth on the street so that we could help feed our guests and to help add to the festival atmosphere
Every year our Rotary Club distributes dictionaries to all of the 3rd. grade students in the Valley. The goal is to assist all students to complete the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing the students with their own personal dictionary.
Founded by David Goldstein in 2003, the annual High School Architectural Design Competition occurs in the Santa Ynez Valley with lead financial and volunteer support from the SYV Rotary club.
In 2005 the three Rotary Clubs in our valley got together and constructed the Sunny Fields Playground in one week! This was in celebration of Rotary International's 100th. Birthday. Our Valley now has a beautiful kids playground thanks to our Rotary Clubs
Our teams have constructed 55 concrete floors, 10 Latrines and 25 Chicken Coops for the poor indigenous Oaxaca Indians. This project has created wonderful goodwill between Rotary and the Oaxaca people!
Deepa Willingham had an idea. It was to establish a girls school in Piyali Junction a small town outside of Calcuta India. In 2003 Deepa started PACE Universal Non-Profit to accomplish this. Our Club is one of many Clubs who donate to her project. Her school is thriving and she is in the process of building a new school which will have 600 girls!
In late 2000 Rick Zander decided to give up his veterinary practice and do volunteer work, full time, in Bacolod City, Philippines. He started the non-profit IDC Foundation. For over 12 years Rick and Esther have lived in Bacolod City, PI. Our Club has been helping support this project from the beginning with donated books, medical supplies, computers and farm equipment.
